The ideal applicant for the ICT permit is a highly qualified professional already embedded within a multinational organization, specifically categorized as a manager, a specialist, or a trainee. To qualify, candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification, demonstrate a minimum of one year of prior employment with the parent company, and meet a salary threshold of at least 30,000 EUR per annum, which serves as a benchmark for their high-level contribution to the Cypriot economy. Unlike standard work permits that are tied to specific job vacancies and local labor market availability, the ICT permit is distinctive because it is rooted in the existing employment relationship between the applicant and the multinational entity. This creates a significant advantage for both parties: the employee gains the right to live and work in Cyprus with a clear path for professional development, while the employer benefits from an expedited processing timeline and the ability to deploy staff where they are most needed.
