This visa is a discretionary category often granted to distinguished visitors, such as high-level dignitaries, special guests of the state, or individuals participating in significant international events or humanitarian missions that align with the national interests of Cameroon. As a gesture of international hospitality and courtesy, this visa is issued free of charge to those who meet the specific criteria set forth by the host government.

Because the Courtesy Visa is based on discretionary approval, there is no standardized application path for the general public. Interested parties or their sponsoring organizations must engage directly with Cameroonian authorities or diplomatic missions to present their case for consideration. The application process typically requires a formal request detailing the purpose of the visit and the significance of the individual’s presence in the country. Applicants must hold a valid passport and meet standard health requirements, including the mandatory yellow fever vaccination. The issuance of this visa remains entirely at the discretion of the Ministry of External Relations, reflecting the unique and non-routine nature of the travel purpose.
