The permit grants up to 12 months of stay, extendable to 24 months total. Standard fees are CHF 120, with cantonal surcharges of CHF 65–150 depending on location and nationality. The permit is renewable within quota limits and processing times vary by canton. Dependents may accompany the permit holder, though spousal work is restricted. No conversion pathway to permanent residency exists.
