Overview

Identification card issued by the Department of Immigration for accredited foreign diplomats and their dependents stationed in the Bahamas.

The Diplomat Identification Card is an official document issued by the Department of Immigration to accredited foreign diplomats and consular officers stationed in The Bahamas for official government business. This card serves as the primary form of identification for those endowed with resident diplomat status, facilitating their interactions with local authorities and confirming their official standing within the country. The issuance of this card is a formal process that requires coordination through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensuring that only those officially recognized and accredited by the Bahamian government receive this status and the associated benefits.

To obtain the Diplomat Identification Card, applicants must submit a formal letter of request from their respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with passport-sized photographs and a valid copy of their passport biographical page. The same documentation requirements apply to the dependents of the diplomat who are accompanying them to The Bahamas. All foreign documents must be accompanied by a certified English translation with the appropriate Bahamian postage stamp affixed. This rigorous verification process ensures that all diplomatic personnel and their families are correctly registered and documented while residing in The Bahamas for their official assignments.
