Overview

Temporary work visa for professionals transferring technology to a Brazilian company under agreement with a foreign company, including equipment installation and staff training.

The VITEM V Technology Transfer Visa is a specific temporary work category established under the Migration Law (Law No. 13.445/2017) and regulated by Normative Resolution No. 04/2017. It was created to facilitate the modernization and industrial development of Brazil by allowing foreign experts to enter the country to transfer proprietary knowledge, software, or advanced operational methodologies to Brazilian entities. This visa fills the gap for projects involving international collaboration where the primary goal is the empowerment of local teams through the adoption of foreign technology.

This visa is for highly skilled professionals and experts assigned by a foreign company to train or guide Brazilian personnel in the use of new technologies, systems, or processes. It is intended for specialists whose presence is essential to the successful implementation of a technology transfer agreement. What makes this visa distinctive is its focus on capacity building and knowledge sharing rather than routine labor. Like other VITEM V categories, it requires formal sponsorship and prior authorization from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, ensuring the activity aligns with national economic and development objectives.
