Overview

Short-stay visa for tourism, cultural and recreational activities, and visiting family or friends for up to 90 days.

The Visit Visa (Visto de Visita — VIVIS) is a foundational component of Brazil's immigration framework, designed to facilitate short-term international travel. Established to regulate the entry of foreign nationals who do not qualify for visa-exemption agreements, this visa fills the gap for travelers requiring formal authorization for non-immigrant purposes. It is governed by Brazilian migration law, which mandates that visitors must not intend to establish residence or engage in paid employment within the country, ensuring that stays remain temporary and compliant with national security and immigration policies.

This visa is intended for a broad spectrum of applicants, including tourists, business travelers, transit passengers, and individuals participating in artistic, sports, or academic activities. It is distinct because it allows for a variety of short-stay activities—such as attending conferences, conducting business meetings, or participating in cultural events—without granting the right to work. Ideal for those visiting for leisure or professional networking, it provides a structured legal pathway for entry while strictly prohibiting remuneration from Brazilian sources, except for permitted expenses like per diems or competition prizes.
