The ASAN Viza (Standard) system was launched on January 10, 2017, following a presidential decree aimed at modernizing and simplifying the visa issuance process through digital transformation. Managed by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this system was created to eliminate the need for physical embassy visits, thereby filling the gap for a more accessible, transparent, and efficient entry process for international visitors. It represents Azerbaijan's commitment to leveraging technology to boost tourism and business.

This visa is designed for foreign nationals from eligible countries visiting Azerbaijan for short-term purposes, including tourism, business, and cultural or scientific exchanges. It is ideal for those who prefer a streamlined, 100% online application process. What makes it distinctive is its convenience: it is electronically linked to the applicant's passport, requires minimal documentation, and is typically processed within three working days, allowing for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days within a 90-day validity period.
