An onshore permanent visa for people whose only close family members live in Australia.
The Remaining Relative Visa (subclass 835) is an Australian permanent visa for people in Australia whose only close relatives — such as parents, adult children, or siblings — are already settled there. It lets applicants remain permanently to maintain those family ties.
The visa grants full work rights, permanent residence, and allows dependent family members to be included. Processing is subject to capping and queueing, with new applicants typically waiting 25 years or more. No priority processing is available.
This visa is ideal for people already in Australia on another visa whose only close relatives live in Australia and who are prepared for an extremely long wait for permanent residence.
