Overview

An onshore permanent visa for a dependent child to live in Australia with their parent who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.

The Subclass 802 Child visa grants permanent residence to dependent children already in Australia whose parent is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. Eligible applicants are under 18, or aged 18–25 in full-time study and financially dependent, or over 18 with a disability.

Applications are lodged on paper using Form 47CH and sponsorship Form 40CH. The base fee is AUD 3,235 and processing typically takes 22 to 27 months. The visa is permanent, granting full work and study rights and access to Medicare.

This visa is ideal for dependent children of Australian citizens or permanent residents who are already onshore and need a pathway to permanent residence.
