Overview

The Australian Dependent Child visa (subclass 445) allows a child of a temporary partner visa holder (subclass 309 or 820) to remain in Australia while the parent awaits a decision on their permanent partner visa.

The visa is temporary, valid until the parent's permanent partner visa (subclass 100 or 801) is decided or withdrawn. Children must be under 18, or 18-25 if studying full-time and financially dependent. The application fee is AUD 3,235; the child can later be added to the parent's permanent visa at no extra charge.

This visa is ideal for dependent children of Australian partner visa holders (subclass 309 or 820) who need lawful status while the parent's permanent residence application is pending.
