Overview

Refugee Visa.

The Refugee Visa (subclass 200) is an Australian permanent visa for people outside Australia facing persecution based on race, religion, nationality, social group membership, or political opinion. Applicants are typically referred by the UNHCR and must need resettlement with no prospect of return.

The visa grants immediate permanent residency with no application charge. Holders can work, study, and access Medicare. They may propose family members for permanent residence and are eligible for Australian citizenship. Free English language training is available through the Adult Migrant English Program on arrival.

This visa is ideal for UNHCR-referred individuals outside Australia who face persecution and need a permanent, safe resettlement pathway.
