Overview

Parent Visa.

The Subclass 103 Parent visa grants permanent residence in Australia to parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. Unlike the contributory streams, it charges a lower fee (AUD 7,345 in two instalments) in exchange for much longer processing times.

The visa confers full permanent residence: the right to live, work, and study in Australia indefinitely, access Medicare, and travel freely for 5 years, with a pathway to citizenship. Processing is subject to capping and queuing; as of March 2026, applications with a queue date up to July 2013 are being finalised.

This visa is ideal for parents willing to wait many years for a permanent, low-cost pathway to join their children in Australia.
