Overview

A temporary visa allowing lawful stay in Australia while waiting for a decision on a substantive visa application if you do not hold a substantive visa.

The Bridging Visa C (subclass 030) is an Australian temporary visa that lets unlawful non-citizens remain in Australia lawfully while the Department of Home Affairs processes a new substantive visa application. It carries no application fee and is granted automatically with the substantive application.

The visa remains valid until the substantive application is decided, with no travel rights — holders cannot leave and re-enter Australia. Work is barred under condition 8101 unless financial hardship is demonstrated. Dependents can be included but must be in Australia. There is no pathway to permanent residence.

This visa is ideal for people already in Australia without a current substantive visa who need lawful status while a new visa application is processed.
