Overview

Residence permit for spouses, registered partners, and children under 18 of third-country nationals. Spouses/partners must be at least 21. Issued for 12 months, renewable.

This permit covers spouses, registered partners, and unmarried children under 18 of third-country nationals who already have valid residence permits in Austria. The dependent must remain under the sponsorship and care of the permit holder.

Annual Visa Allocation

4,870 visas per year

The quota applies to family reunification under § 46 (4) of the Settlement and Residence Act (NAG) for dependents of certain settlement permit holders. Family members of Red-White-Red Card, Red-White-Red Card Plus, EU Blue Card, and researcher permit holders are exempt from the quota system. Quotas are allocated by province and unused slots do not roll over to the following year.
