The Residence Permit – Researcher Mobility allows third-country nationals holding a valid 'Researcher' residence title from another EU member state to conduct research in Austria. The permit is issued for up to two years and is renewable if requirements remain met. EUR 218 application fee applies, with processing typically within eight weeks. Work authorization is restricted to the hosting research institution. Spouses have unrestricted work rights.
This visa is ideal for PhD-qualified researchers already authorized to work in another EU state who seek to continue their scientific collaboration at an Austrian research institution.
