The Transit Visa (Visto de Trânsito) is designed for foreign citizens who need to pass through Angolan territory to reach their final destination in another country. This visa is essential for travelers whose itinerary requires them to leave the international transit area of an airport or cross through the country by land, such as during a stopover or when connecting between flights that are not part of a single, through-checked booking. It is strictly intended for transit purposes and is not a substitute for a tourist or business visa for those intending to stay, sightsee, or conduct professional activities within Angola.

Typically valid for a short duration, often up to five days, the Transit Visa is generally issued as a single or double-entry permit and is not renewable. Applicants are required to provide evidence of their onward travel, such as confirmed flight tickets to their final destination and, where applicable, a valid visa or proof of entry eligibility for that destination country. A processing fee, commonly around USD 100, is associated with this visa. Travelers who remain within the international airport transit area for a same-day connection on a single ticket may not require this visa, depending on specific airline and immigration policies.
